The regular meeting of the Clay-Platte Scottish Rite Club was opened in proper form at 7:05pm on August 20, 2007 by President Ron Hewitt, with prayer by the Chaplain, Virden Daugherty, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to our Flag. There were 14 members, 8 ladies and 1 guest present.

Guest Speakers: Mrs. Sharon Hunt, Youth Specialist and County Program Director for the University of Missouri Extension Programs in Platte County told us what the County Council is, how it was formed [through Land Grand Colleges, Lincoln University] and how it functions through 4-H groups in a multiple county area. She noted that a Five State Ethnic Festival had been held in our Temple building for the past two years and reservations are being made for 2008. She left some literature for our perusal, which is attached to the minutes.

Sickness: Ill. Brother Gary Barron, 33º was recovering from knee replacement at home; Miss Allison Hampton, daughter of our Vice President Kevin Hampton was very seriously injured in an auto accident. Both our President and Brother Hampton spoke as to her condition and prognoses.

Minutes: The Minutes of the July 16, 2007 meeting were approved as corrected and amended. The Treasurer reported a June 17 balance of $536.00. Receipts were $315.00 and expenditures were $341.00 for a closing balance of $510.00. The report was accepted as presented.

Old Business: There was no Old Business other than that several people thanked our President for his keeping us informed and up to date on Allison Hampton’s condition.

New Business: We were pleased to welcome Steve Heflin as a new member of the club.

Remarks: Lodge and Valley activities were noted, as were degree cast rehearsals.

The meeting was closed in regular form at 8:05 pm.

Dues for 2007 in the amount of $15.00 are now payable. Dues can be mailed directly to the Treasurer; OR BETTER turn them in when you attend the next meeting! If you are not sure of your dues status, check with the Treasurer.

Speaker: The speaker for September will be Mrs. Susan Brown, Chair of the Concerned Citizens of Platte County [CCPC]. The group works to protect children’s health, overall quality of life and to enhance property values.
