The regular meeting of the Clay-Platte Scottish Rite Club was opened in proper form at 7:14 pm on January 21, 2007 by President Kevin Hampton, with prayer by the Acting Chaplain, Loyd Gentry, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to our Flag. There were 15 members, 9 ladies and 4 guests present.

Guest Speakers: Jared Hargrave, editor of the Rite Start and Herald spoke on the challenges of maintaining communications in the valley and the importance of getting articles in to share with the membership.

Sickness: It was reported that Brother Larry Moss had fallen and broke his wrist requiring surgery to place pins in while it mends; Brother VanVacter reported that Larry was doing fine. Brother Bob Whitaker’s short stay in the hospital for surgery completed with good results.

Minutes: The Minutes of the December 17, 2007 meeting were approved as presented.

Treasurers Report:The Treasurer reported that our closing balance for December was $658.29

Old Business: There was no old business to report.

New Business: The President suggested that we consider putting on a degree at the fall reunion.

Remarks: Dues cards will be printed and available at the February meeting; our spring reunion is set for April 4th and 5th; Brother Gilkerson reported that Kearney Lodge’s MOChip Event identified 101 kids; Brother Lukenbill spoke on the Jobs Daughters bethel in Smithville and invited any girl 10-18 yrs old with Masonic member in her family to join them. Ron Hewitt spoke on the importance of an emergency contact card being carried by everyone especially those that have no family in the area. He will make cards for anyone who brings their information to the February meeting.

The meeting was closed in regular form at 8:15 pm.

Dues for 2008 in the amount of $15.00 are now payable. Dues can be mailed directly to the Treasurer; OR BETTER turn them in when you attend the next meeting! If you are not sure of your dues status, check with the Treasurer.

PLEASE call the Vice President Dan Woehrman with the number in your party for our next meeting at 816/280-3253 or you can email him at dan@callenderprinting.com. Dan will need this information by Friday before the meeting on Monday [so that Tommy’s can plan their space and personnel accordingly]!

Speaker: A guest speaker for February 2008 has not been announced.
