The regular meeting of the Clay-Platte Scottish Rite Club was opened in proper form at 7:00 pm on October 15, 2007 by President Ron Hewitt, with prayer by the Chaplain, Virden Daugherty, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to our Flag. There were 15 members, 13 ladies and 2 guest present.

Guest Speaker: Mrs. Shawn Garland, Director of Hillcrest Transitional Housing spoke about the purposes of the organization in that they provide housing and every thing needed for independent living for people who want to get ‘back on their feet’. It is a ninety-day program with families [usually single parent or individuals] who want to be self-sufficient and on their own. She said, “Hillcrest gives people a hand up, not a hand out”.

Sickness: None was reported.

Minutes: The Minutes of the September 17, 2007 meeting were approved as amended. The Treasurer reported a September balance of $510.00, expenditures of $67.41 and a closing balance of $442.59. The report was accepted as presented.

Old Business: There was no old business.

New Business: It was moved and passed to donate $50.00 to Hillcrest.

Remarks: Valley and Lodge activities were noted.

The meeting was closed in regular form at 7:55 pm.

Dues for 2008 in the amount of $15.00 are now payable. Dues can be mailed directly to the Treasurer; OR BETTER turn them in when you attend the next meeting! If you are not sure of your dues status, check with the Treasurer.

Speaker: There will be no speaker at our November meeting but nominations of officers for 2008 will be presented by the nomination committee and we will vote on the slate as well.
